2 – Single Stage Gas

Good for up to 8 inches of snowfall, they are easier to handle and lighter than a two-stage gas snow blower, but bigger than a single-stage electric, and usually good for about a 20 to 22 inch path. Not bad for minimal inclines, this is definitely not the snow blower for steep hills. Usually priced from around $300-$900.

3 – Two Stage Gas

The two-stage gas blower is awesome for those bigger jobs. If your driveways, walkways and sidewalks are very long, more than the average width, or have hilly characteristics, this is the snow blower for you. And if your driveway is gravel, this one is a must. The auger does not contact the ground, so it will not pick up rocks and sling them like the above two blowers. Also, the two-stage gas snow thrower offers electric starting and has self-propelled wheels. This means these types of snow blowers are much easier use. You can expect a two-stage gas snow blower to clear a path 28 to 30 inches wide. Around $600-$1500.
